Preparing for Your Emerald Isle Trip-Tips from Amy & Mary

With the date of our retreat fast approaching what to bring is high in everyone’s minds. May is one of the best times to visit Ireland as the weather is already starting to warm up, but the summer mayhem is not yet in full swing. You can expect temperatures from the high 50s to the low 60s, though the weather can often be unpredictable and can be as low as the low 40s in May. And of course, The Emerald Isle can only be as green as its name suggests with rain, so it is always a good bet to plan on rain. However it can be a glorious and sunny time too. Raincoats are suggested rather than umbrellas as wind is also common in May and you may find your umbrella blowing away. Ireland is fairly far north so you can expect long days in May, with the sun rising at about 5:30 in the morning and setting around 9:30 in the evening leaving plenty of time for activities.

Below is a few uncommon things or things you would not normally think about that you will need for this retreat. A more detailed packing list with travel tips will follow in your emails.

 ·      Shoes or boots for hiking

·      Two pairs of walking shoes

·      Swimsuit (Yes, you will need a swimsuit but why is a surprise)

·      UK/Ireland plug adaptor.

·      Any medications you take, even over the counter medications as there are differences in what can be sold in Irish pharmacies verses American ones.

And remember, Mary and I will be with you every step of the way to there is no need to panic if something gets left behind or forgotten. We will be there to make sure your retreat is stress free and a trip never to forget.
