Things to Do Before You Go On Your Retreat
As you prepare for your retreat there are certain things you should do to make sure you get the most out of it and have that amazing experience that you deserve.
Cut down caffeine, alcohol and sugar intake(if you consume a lot) a week before you leave so you don’t crash or have withdrawal issues on your retreat
Reduce your tech time. We are all addicted to our technology so wean your self off these before your trip. Wake up properly each morning and enjoy the morning before you flood your brain with information. And likewise at the end of the day, give yourself the chance to be with your own thoughts, and reflections of your day instead of not mindlessly scrolling through Facebook and Instagram
Organise your work tasks so that when you leave your co workers have you covered and inform them that you will not have reception (not quite true) so they will not feel the need to keep calling you.
Let your family and friend know that you are going on a retreat for some time off to relax and rejuvinate and only contact you in an an emergency.
Get that good book that you have been wanting to read for awhile. A real paper book and not an i pad or kindle so you are not tempted to check your messages.
Make sure you change your voicemail message, saying you are unavailable but will get back to them on your return. Also write an auto-reply for your email that explains that you can’t receive messages and will get back to them on your return.
Factor in time changes and jet lag and plan accordingly so that this will not be a major issue when you get to your retreat. Stay well hydrated and adjust sleeping habits to accomodate the time differences.
